Brown Stained Glass Pane is the thin, transparent brown variant of the glass pane, added to Minecraft in Java Edition 1.7.2 together with all sixteen pane colors. Crafting six blocks of brown stained glass in two rows of three yields sixteen Brown Stained Glass Panes, and a second recipe that surrounds one brown dye with eight glass panes yields eight panes. Sixteen panes from six blocks works out to 2 2/3 panes per block of stained glass, so a window built from panes covers up to 2 2/3 times the area of a window built from the same amount of stained glass blocks. Brown Stained Glass Pane also generates naturally in abandoned villages. Brown Stained Glass Pane has 0.3 hardness and 0.3 blast resistance, breaks at the same speed with any tool, and drops nothing without the Silk Touch enchantment.

Placed Brown Stained Glass Pane connects to neighboring blocks in flat, corner, T-shaped, and cross-shaped joins, and an unconnected pane stands as a thin 2×2-pixel post. Brown Stained Glass Pane never lies horizontally, so horizontal colored-glass surfaces require full stained glass blocks. Water can occupy the same block space as Brown Stained Glass Pane, which keeps underwater windows transparent. A Beacon beam changes color when the beam shines through Brown Stained Glass Pane, and, unlike the plain Glass Pane, Brown Stained Glass Pane cannot lock a map. For builders, the brown tint of Brown Stained Glass Pane warms the daylight in windows of timber cabins, sandstone outposts, and any palette built on browns.
