Brown Carpet is a thin wool covering 1/16 of a block high, and two brown wool placed side by side in a crafting grid yield three carpets. Brown Carpet also generates naturally inside woodland mansions, and an apprentice shepherd villager sells four carpets of any color for one emerald. Breaking Brown Carpet takes 0.15 seconds with any tool or bare hands, and shears speed nothing up, unlike on wool. Brown Carpet is renewable, stacks to 64, and has hardness and blast resistance of only 0.1.

A placed Brown Carpet hides the floor block underneath, and because the thin layer is opaque yet does not decrease light, a light-emitting block underneath lights the whole room while staying invisible. The 1/16 block thickness also prevents mobs from spawning on carpeted floors, and Brown Carpet on top of a fence or wall lets players jump up while animals stay behind. Like wool, Brown Carpet dampens sculk sensor vibrations: walking, placing, or breaking the carpet creates no vibration. A hopper keeps collecting items through a carpet layer, llamas wear Brown Carpet as a decorative rug in their carpet slot, and Java Edition furnaces smelt 0.335 items per carpet as fuel. Brown Carpet is flammable and catches fire from lava, so keep brown floors away from open flames.
