Description

Black Stained Glass is the dyed variant of glass that players craft by placing one black dye in the center of a crafting grid and eight glass blocks around the dye, producing eight blocks per recipe. Trial chambers also generate Black Stained Glass naturally, in atriums alongside white stained glass. Any tool breaks Black Stained Glass at the same speed because no tool is assigned to stained glass. Only the Silk Touch enchantment secures a drop; without Silk Touch, a broken Black Stained Glass leaves nothing. Black Stained Glass stacks to 64 and counts as a renewable resource (the supply is not limited by world generation).

Black Stained Glass gives builders a dark transparent material for windows and facades. Adjacent stained glass of an identical color turns invisible when viewed through Black Stained Glass, so a single-color wall shows no inner edges. Black Stained Glass placed anywhere above a beacon recolors the beacon beam, and every further glass block blends the beam color by averaging. Six Black Stained Glass blocks craft into sixteen panes for narrow windows. Mobs treat Black Stained Glass as fully opaque, cannot see through stained glass, and normally do not spawn on stained glass.
