Yellow Glazed Terracotta is a dyed building block obtained by smelting yellow terracotta in a furnace; plain undyed terracotta cannot be smelted into the glazed form. One yellow terracotta smelts into one Yellow Glazed Terracotta, and the crafting chain starts from clay: smelting clay produces terracotta, and eight terracotta blocks arranged around one yellow dye craft eight yellow terracotta. Mining Yellow Glazed Terracotta requires a pickaxe, and a wooden pickaxe is already enough. Yellow Glazed Terracotta stacks to 64, has hardness 1.4 and blast resistance 1.4, and first appeared in Java Edition 1.12 and Bedrock Edition 1.1.0.

Yellow Glazed Terracotta exists for pattern work: the tile texture rotates to face the player during placement, and same-color tiles set in the correct orientation across a 2×2 area or larger join into a single cohesive image. Mason houses in savanna villages generate Yellow Glazed Terracotta naturally. Yellow Glazed Terracotta never sticks to slime blocks or honey blocks, cannot be pulled by sticky pistons, and can still be pushed by regular pistons.
