Description

Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars are the honeycomb-coated form of copper bars fixed at the final, teal stage of oxidation. A Honeycomb used on placed Oxidized Copper Bars seals the metal, and the crafting grid gives the same result: one Oxidized Copper Bars plus one Honeycomb yields one Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars. Non-waxed copper bars pass through four oxidation stages, ending in the teal-with-green-spots look of the oxidized stage, and lightning bolts or an axe can strip that oxidation away. The honeycomb coating stops the oxidation process, so the teal shade stays exactly as placed.

Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars work as a see-through ornamental block: copper bars count as transparent and a full stack holds 64 pieces. Any pickaxe breaks Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars, and a wooden pickaxe already meets the minimum tier, while mining without a pickaxe drops nothing at all. The teal waxed grid also pairs with the rest of the copper bars family: unwaxed variants keep shifting color through the oxidation stages, while Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars hold the finished teal look.

Guide

How to get Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft plain Copper Bars

Place six Copper Ingots in two horizontal rows of three on the crafting grid; the recipe yields sixteen Copper Bars.

  2. 2

    Wait for full oxidation

Leave the Copper Bars unwaxed until the metal reaches the oxidized stage: teal with several green spots, the last of four oxidation stages.

  3. 3

Seal the bars with a Honeycomb

Use a Honeycomb item on the placed Oxidized Copper Bars; the honeycomb coating stops oxidation from progressing and keeps the teal stage.

  4. 4

    Craft the waxed variant directly

Combine one Oxidized Copper Bars with one Honeycomb in the crafting grid to receive one Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars.

  5. 5

Mine the bars with a pickaxe

Break Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars with any pickaxe, wooden tier or better; without a pickaxe the bars drop nothing.

Waterlogging

Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars can be waterlogged, so water fills the see-through grid while the teal bars stay in place — a ready-made fit for underwater builds.

Frequently asked questions

Are Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars fireproof?

Copper bars are neither flammable nor lava-susceptible, so the teal grid survives contact with fire and lava.

Do Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars emit light?

No. Copper bars emit no light, so torches or lanterns beside the bars light up the teal grid.

Which Minecraft version added copper bars?

The copper bars family joined Java Edition in 1.21.9, first as snapshot 25w32a, and Bedrock Edition in 1.21.111.

Are Waxed Oxidized Copper Bars renewable?

Yes. Copper bars are a renewable block, and the waxed oxidized form only adds a Honeycomb to the unwaxed variant.

What is the difference from plain Oxidized Copper Bars?

A honeycomb coating. Plain Oxidized Copper Bars stay unwaxed, while the honeycomb layer on the waxed form stops oxidation from progressing.
