Exposed Cut Copper itself is the first oxidation stage of Cut Copper, showing pale green-brown discoloration compared to the shiny orange of the unweathered block. A stonecutter turns a single Block of Copper into four stairs directly, or a single Cut Copper block into one stair, skipping the crafting-table shape entirely. Waxing locks the block at this exact oxidation stage permanently, without wax, Cut Copper Stairs keep aging toward Weathered and then Oxidized over time, and only an axe or a lightning bolt can strip the rust back down.

Waxed Exposed Cut Copper Stairs stack to 64 and break only with a Stone Pickaxe or better, dropping nothing if mined with anything weaker. Builders use them to add a weathered, verdigris-tinted staircase to roofs, balconies, and copper-clad towers without worrying about the color drifting further as the world ages. Only the fully rusted Waxed Oxidized Cut Copper Stairs spawn naturally, inside Trial Chambers, the Exposed stage always has to be crafted and waxed by hand. Pairing these stairs with plain Cut Copper Stairs on the same structure creates a visible gradient between fresh and half-oxidized copper, a common trick for aging a build without waiting out real oxidation timers.
