Waxed Exposed Copper Door forms when a player applies Honeycomb to an Exposed Copper Door on a crafting table, sealing the door at the first of copper's four oxidation stages. Exposed Copper Door itself is the result of an unwaxed Copper Door weathering naturally over time, or of scraping back further oxidation with an axe. The honeycomb coating stops the greenish-brown patina from progressing toward the darker Weathered and Oxidized stages, so a lightning bolt or axe can no longer change its look once waxed. Waxed Exposed Copper Door stacks to 64, does not burn, and drops itself whether it is mined, pushed by a piston, or its supporting block is removed.

Like every copper door, Waxed Exposed Copper Door opens and closes for players without a redstone connection, and also responds to a weak redstone signal on any horizontal side. Villagers, piglins, vindicators, and copper golems can open it on their own, and a thrown wind charge flips it open or closed on impact. On Hard difficulty, zombies with the door-breaking trait and raid vindicators can still smash through it while it is closed, so a copper door alone is not raid-proof. Builders use the Exposed stage to match copper roofs, golem stations, or lightning rods that have already weathered one step, while the wax coating keeps the color locked to that exact look.
