Description

The Waxed Copper Golem Statue is a decorative redstone block created by applying a honeycomb to a copper golem statue, which permanently locks the statue at its current oxidation stage. Added in The Copper Age update (Java Edition 1.21.9 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.110, released 30 September 2025), the waxed statue keeps the exact weathered look it had when it was waxed and never changes color again. Right-click the statue to cycle it through four poses — standing, sitting, running, and star — while a redstone comparator reads each pose as a signal strength of 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively, which makes the block useful for combination locks and hidden-door circuits. The Waxed Copper Golem Statue has a hardness of 3 and a blast resistance of 6; you can break it by hand, but a pickaxe is the fastest tool. Use an axe on the statue to strip the wax and return it to the normal oxidizing variant.

Java & Bedrock Guide

How to make and use a Waxed Copper Golem Statue in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Get a copper golem statue

Let a copper golem fully oxidize and petrify into a statue, or place an existing statue at the oxidation stage you want to keep.

  2. 2

    Apply honeycomb to wax it

Use a honeycomb on the statue; the wax locks its current oxidation stage so the copper color never changes again.

  3. 3

    Pose the statue

Right-click the waxed statue to cycle through standing, sitting, running and star poses; in Bedrock Edition your hand must be empty.

  4. 4

    Wire it to redstone

Place a redstone comparator against the statue; it outputs signal strength 1, 2, 3 or 4 by pose for locks and hidden doors.

  5. 5

    Remove the wax if needed

Use an axe on the statue to strip the honeycomb wax and return it to the standard oxidizing copper golem statue.

Version note

Copper golems and their statues were added in The Copper Age update — Java Edition 1.21.9 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.110, released 30 September 2025. Earlier versions do not contain this block.

Frequently asked questions

How do you make a Waxed Copper Golem Statue?

Apply a honeycomb to any copper golem statue. The wax locks the statue at its current oxidation stage so it never weathers further.

What do the four statue poses do?

Right-clicking cycles standing, sitting, running and star poses, and a comparator reads them as signal strengths 1, 2, 3 and 4 for redstone contraptions.

Can you remove the wax from the statue?

Yes. Use an axe on the waxed statue to strip the wax and revert it to the normal oxidizing copper golem statue, keeping its oxidation stage.

What tool breaks it fastest?

A pickaxe breaks it fastest. The block has a hardness of 3 and can also be broken by hand, just more slowly.

What version added the Waxed Copper Golem Statue?

It arrived with The Copper Age update in Java Edition 1.21.9 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.110 on 30 September 2025.
