Description

Warped Fungus is a small Nether plant added in Minecraft 1.16 that solves two problems at once: it grows giant Warped Trees and it controls Striders. Warped Fungus generates naturally on Warped Nylium inside the Warped Forest biome, where the cyan canopy makes it easy to spot. Every application of Bone Meal to a Warped Fungus planted on Warped Nylium has a 40% chance to grow a huge Warped Tree with Warped Stems, Shroomlights and Warped Wart Blocks — the cheapest renewable source of Nether wood, and the growing tree even replaces blocks such as slabs and torches in its way. A Warped Fungus placed on the ground or in a flower pot keeps Hoglins more than 7 blocks away in both Java and Bedrock, so a few placed fungi turn dangerous Bastion Remnants into a much safer trip; holding the fungus in hand does nothing. The most unique role is crafting a Warped Fungus on a Stick — the only item that lets a player steer a saddled Strider across lava lakes, with 100 durability in Java Edition. Warped Fungus has no food value, is not flammable, breaks instantly by hand, and a Composter accepts it with a 65% chance to raise the compost level.
