Sweet Berries are the edible fruit of the sweet berry bush, a renewable plant that grows across taiga, snowy taiga, old growth pine taiga, and old growth spruce taiga biomes. The bush matures through four growth stages: at stage 2 Sweet Berries yields 1–2 berries per harvest, and at stage 3 the mature bush yields 2–3 berries before resetting to stage 1. Each berry restores 2 hunger points and 0.4 saturation on Java Edition (1.2 on Bedrock Edition), and the bush itself deals 1 damage per tick to any entity walking through it while slowing movement to about 34% of normal speed. Sweet Berries take 32 ticks (1.6 seconds) to eat, slightly slower than dried kelp.

Sweet Berries double as a breeding item: feed two foxes each a berry to produce a kit, and foxes — immune to the bush's thorns — can harvest mature bushes on their own, enabling hands-free farms. Dropping a berry into a composter gives a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1 in both Java and Bedrock Edition, making Sweet Berries a cheap fuel for bonemeal production in snowy taiga bases. The bush also negates all fall damage for anything standing inside it, so players sometimes plant rows of Sweet Berries around tall builds as a soft landing pad. Sweet Berries are best stockpiled in taiga-adjacent survival worlds where bushes regrow naturally and stack to 64.
