Spruce Boat is the spruce-wood version of Minecraft's boats — a drivable vehicle that crosses water, holds two riders, and races across ice even faster. Crafting one Spruce Boat takes five Spruce Planks laid out in a U shape, and a single Spruce Log yields four Spruce Planks, so two logs cover the recipe with leftovers. Spruce Planks are a renewable ingredient, so every lost Spruce Boat can simply be crafted again, while Crimson Planks and Warped Planks cannot make boats at all. A Spruce Boat never stacks — one item per slot — and explosions, fire, lava, or a cactus destroy the boat, which then drops itself as an item ready to be picked up and relaunched.
On water a Spruce Boat reaches a top speed of 8 blocks per second, and ice changes everything: 40 blocks per second on ice and about 72.7 blocks per second on Blue Ice. Riding costs no food — the hunger bar does not drain in a boat — and a falling Spruce Boat cancels fall damage for the boat and every passenger, so long cliff drops are free. Adding a Chest turns the boat into the Spruce Boat with Chest for cargo runs, fisherman villagers buy boats for emeralds, and a mob that bumps into the hull boards the boat and cannot leave on its own — a cheap way to trap and transport animals. Even a spare Spruce Boat works as furnace fuel, burning 60 seconds and smelting up to 6 items.
