Description

The Spire Armor Trim Smithing Template is a cosmetic upgrade item introduced with the 1.20 trims system. It is found exclusively in End City chests among the outer-end islands, with roughly a 16% chance per chest. The pattern engraves tall, pointed vertical lines reminiscent of End architecture and purpur towers, giving armor a regal, otherworldly silhouette that pairs with End-themed builds.

To apply the trim, place one armor piece, one trim material (iron, gold, diamond, netherite, emerald, redstone, lapis, copper, amethyst or quartz) and the template into a smithing table; it is consumed in the process. Because the original is lost on use, players duplicate copies by combining one existing template with seven diamonds and one purpur block in the smithing table, yielding two templates. The visual effect is purely decorative and does not alter armor stats.

How to use the Spire Armor Trim in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Find the template

Travel to the End and locate an End City on the outer islands, then loot its chests; each chest has about a 16% chance to hold the Spire Armor Trim.

  2. 2

    Duplicate it first

Applying the trim consumes the template, so combine the Spire template with 7 diamonds and 1 purpur block in a smithing table to get 2 copies before you use one.

  3. 3

    Apply the trim

Open a smithing table and place one armor piece, one trim material (iron, gold, diamond, netherite, emerald, redstone, lapis, copper, amethyst or quartz) and the Spire template together.

  4. 4

    Equip and repeat

Take the trimmed armor and wear it; repeat for each of the four armor slots to give a full set the matching spire pattern.

Important

The trim is purely cosmetic and never changes armor or protection values. The pattern color comes from the trim material you choose, not from the template itself.
