Description

Spider Eye is a poisonous food and brewing item in Minecraft, dropped by spiders and cave spiders when they die. A spider drops 0–1 spider eye, and the Looting enchantment increases the chance. Eating a spider eye restores 2 hunger points (one drumstick) but inflicts Poison for 4 seconds, draining health down to nearly half a heart, so it is an emergency-only food. The item's real value is in the brewing stand: a spider eye added to an Awkward Potion brews a Potion of Poison, which damages targets over time. A spider eye is also combined with sugar and a brown mushroom to craft a fermented spider eye, the ingredient that corrupts potions into Weakness, Slowness, Harming, and Invisibility variants. Spider eyes have existed since Beta 1.8 and behave identically in Java and Bedrock Edition; witches can drop them as well.

How to use a Spider Eye in Minecraft

    Fight spiders and cave spiders at night or in caves; each kill may drop a spider eye, and a sword with Looting increases the yield.

Important

Eating a spider eye restores 2 hunger but applies Poison for 4 seconds; never eat one at low health, since Poison can drop you to half a heart.
