How to get and use the Silence Armor Trim in Minecraft
-
1
Reach an Ancient City
Find a Deep Dark biome below Y=0 and locate an Ancient City. The Silence Armor Trim Smithing Template only spawns in its loot chests, so explore the central structure and side rooms carefully.
-
2
Loot without waking the Warden
Crouch to avoid triggering sculk sensors and shriekers, since three shrieks summon the Warden. Open the chests and take the template along with any other rewards.
-
3
Apply the trim at a smithing table
Place one armor piece, the Silence template, and a trim material such as iron, gold, diamond, or netherite into the smithing table to stamp the silence pattern onto the armor.
-
4
Duplicate the template
Combine the template with 7 diamonds and 1 cobbled deepslate in a crafting grid to get the template back plus one extra copy, so you never lose the original.
Armor trims do not change defense, durability, or enchantments. The Silence trim is purely visual and works the same in Java and Bedrock Edition since version 1.20.
