Description

Red Nether Brick Stairs are a decorative stairs variant of Red Nether Bricks that players must craft themselves — the stairs never generate naturally. A crafting table turns six Red Nether Bricks into four stairs, and a stonecutter cuts one Red Nether Bricks block into one stair. Red Nether Brick Stairs drop nothing when mined without a pickaxe, and a wooden pickaxe or better is required to harvest the stairs. Red Nether Brick Stairs carry a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 6.

Every Red Nether Brick Stairs project starts one step earlier: Red Nether Bricks are crafted from two Nether Wart and two Nether Brick items in a 2×2 checkerboard, and both the bricks and the stairs are renewable. Red Nether Brick Stairs stack to 64 per slot, do not burn, and can be waterlogged. A stonecutter also cuts Red Nether Bricks into slabs and walls, so one material covers a full red Nether-style palette. Java Edition received Red Nether Brick Stairs in 1.14, and Bedrock Edition received the stairs in 1.9.0.

Guide

How to craft Red Nether Brick Stairs in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the base block first

Place two Nether Wart and two Nether Brick items in a 2×2 checkerboard on a crafting grid to receive one Red Nether Bricks block.

  2. 2

Craft stairs at a crafting table

Place six Red Nether Bricks in the stair shape — a full bottom row, two blocks in the middle row, one block in the top row — to receive four Red Nether Brick Stairs.

  3. 3

    Cut stairs in a stonecutter

Put one Red Nether Bricks block into a stonecutter to receive one Red Nether Brick Stairs without filling a crafting grid.

  4. 4

Mine placed stairs with a pickaxe

Break placed Red Nether Brick Stairs with any pickaxe; mined without a pickaxe, the stairs drop nothing.

Why the stonecutter saves material

A stonecutter spends one Red Nether Bricks block per stair, while the crafting recipe spends six blocks for four stairs — one and a half blocks per stair. Red Nether Brick Stairs also never burn and can be waterlogged.
