Description

Red Nether Brick Slab is a half-height decorative slab that never generates naturally in Minecraft and exists only as a crafted building block. A crafting table turns 3 red Nether bricks placed in one horizontal row into 6 Red Nether Brick Slabs. A stonecutter offers the second recipe and cuts 1 red Nether bricks block into 2 Red Nether Brick Slabs. Red Nether Brick Slab breaks with any pickaxe — a wooden pickaxe already qualifies — and drops nothing when mined by hand. Red Nether Brick Slab stacks to 64, does not burn, is not susceptible to lava, and was added to Minecraft in Java Edition 1.14 and Bedrock Edition 1.9.0.

Red Nether Brick Slab fits stair treads, window sills, and layered floors where the full red Nether bricks block would look too bulky. Two Red Nether Brick Slabs merge into a double slab that fills the entire cube. Red Nether Brick Slab also accepts waterlogging, so water stays in the block space and Nether-style harbor walls or submerged portals are built without air pockets. The deep red tone of Red Nether Brick Slab adds a warm accent to fortress-style Nether builds.

Guide

How to craft Red Nether Brick Slab in Minecraft

  1. 1

Craft 6 slabs in a single row

Place 3 red Nether bricks in one horizontal row on a crafting table to receive 6 Red Nether Brick Slabs.

  2. 2

Cut 2 slabs in the stonecutter

Put 1 red Nether bricks block into a stonecutter to cut the block into 2 Red Nether Brick Slabs.

  3. 3

    Mine with any pickaxe

Break Red Nether Brick Slab with any pickaxe, even a wooden pickaxe; mining without a pickaxe drops nothing.

  4. 4

Merge two slabs into a full cube

Place a second Red Nether Brick Slab on the first one to combine both into a double slab that fills the whole block space.

Crafting and stonecutting give the same yield

The crafting table and the stonecutter both turn 1 red Nether bricks block into 2 slabs, so the choice of station never changes the yield.
