Red Mushroom is a vanilla Minecraft fungus that generates in dark areas at light level 12 or lower, including caves, shaded overhangs, and the Mushroom Fields biome. Mushroom Fields is the one place where Red Mushroom grows freely on mycelium in any light, alongside Brown Mushroom and roaming Mooshrooms. Players gather Red Mushroom by breaking it instantly with bare hands, and red Mooshrooms drop a Red Mushroom when sheared, which also reverts the mob into a regular Cow. Red Mushroom is a crafting ingredient for Mushroom Stew (1 Red Mushroom + 1 Brown Mushroom + 1 Bowl) and a flexible ingredient in Rabbit Stew, where either mushroom color works. Suspicious Stew also accepts Red Mushroom together with Brown Mushroom and a flower that defines the status effect. Applying Bone Meal to a Red Mushroom planted on dirt, podzol, or mycelium grows a Huge Red Mushroom — a dome-shaped structure of Red Mushroom Blocks supported by Mushroom Stem, provided the light level stays at 12 or lower and there is open vertical space. Red Mushroom can be placed in a Flower Pot, composted with a 65% chance per attempt, and spread slowly to nearby low-light blocks. The block fits decorative cave builds, Mushroom Fields recreations, and renewable stew farms on mycelium plots.
