Red Glazed Terracotta is a glazed building block obtained by smelting Red Terracotta — terracotta stained red — in a furnace; one smelt returns one block and 0.1 XP, and unstained terracotta never glazes. A pickaxe is required for harvesting: Red Glazed Terracotta mined without a pickaxe drops nothing. Red Glazed Terracotta carries hardness 1.4, blast resistance 1.4 and a stack limit of 64. Red Glazed Terracotta also generates naturally in trial chambers, in altar-like structures beside ominous vaults. Expert-level Mason villagers sell glazed terracotta in all 16 colors for emeralds, which keeps Red Glazed Terracotta renewable.

For builders, Red Glazed Terracotta works as a pattern material: the texture rotates to match the direction the player faces while placing, so a 2×2 area of matching orientation merges into a single image. Pistons can push Red Glazed Terracotta. Sticky pistons, however, cannot pull Red Glazed Terracotta. Slime blocks and honey blocks never stick to Red Glazed Terracotta either. Floors, altar-style shrines and red-accent interiors suit the glossy pattern best, and stacks of 64 make large mosaics manageable.
