Description

Block of Raw Gold is a compact storage block crafted from nine raw gold items in a 3x3 crafting grid. The block was added in Minecraft 1.17 with the Caves & Cliffs raw ore system, so mined gold can be stored before smelting. Block of Raw Gold has hardness 5 and blast resistance 6, does not burn, and drops itself only when mined with an iron pickaxe or better. The reverse recipe returns nine raw gold items with no loss, making the block a clean inventory solution after long mining trips.

Block of Raw Gold is most useful before raw gold becomes gold ingots. Players use Block of Raw Gold to compress ore hauls from badlands, Nether gold mining routes, or Fortune III branch-mining sessions before moving the material to a furnace or blast furnace. Piglins treat Block of Raw Gold as guarded gold: dropped items can distract piglins, and breaking the placed block near piglins makes them angry. Builders also use Block of Raw Gold as a rough treasure texture, because the chunky gold flecks look less polished than a standard Block of Gold.
