Purple Shulker Box is the purple dye variant of the shulker box, a storage block that, unlike all other storage blocks, keeps its contents in item form when broken. Purple Shulker Box provides 27 inventory slots, the same capacity as a single chest, a barrel, or an ender chest. Any tool or a bare hand can mine Purple Shulker Box, a pickaxe works fastest, and every stored item stays inside the dropped item. A piston push pops Purple Shulker Box off as an item, and pistons cannot pull shulker boxes at all. Stored items spill out only if a shulker box is destroyed while in item form.

Purple Shulker Box comes from the dyeing recipe: combine any shulker box with one purple dye on the crafting grid, and the color changes while the contents stay inside. Renaming on an anvil keeps the contents as well, so a full Purple Shulker Box never needs unpacking. The base shulker box costs 2 shulker shells and 1 chest, placed as a vertical column on the crafting grid. Purple Shulker Box fits inside every container except another shulker box, and hoppers can load and unload the storage automatically. Piglins turn hostile toward any player who opens or mines a shulker box, including Purple Shulker Box. Washing Purple Shulker Box in a water-filled cauldron removes the purple dye and returns an undyed shulker box, consuming one level of cauldron water.
