Purple Cushion is a placeable entity added to Minecraft in Java Edition 26.3 and Bedrock Edition 26.40: a flat violet pad, 0.999 blocks wide and 0.249 blocks tall, built for sitting. Purple Cushion is not mined like a block — a single hit from anything, even at zero damage, breaks Purple Cushion instantly, and the cushion always drops itself. The main recipe lines up three purple wool slabs in one row and yields one Purple Cushion, and a second recipe combines any cushion with one Purple Dye for the same result. Cushions of all 16 colors also generate naturally in abandoned camps, normally within 1–2 blocks of a campfire, and each Purple Cushion stacks to 16.

Purple Cushion opens for sitting with the use key, and a seated player becomes immune to knockback, geysers, pistons, and portals until standing up. Purple Cushion carries no collision box, so the pad rests neatly on short surfaces such as slabs, stairs, and snow layers. A line of cushions spaced two blocks apart doubles as transport: holding use reaches 15 m/s, faster than horse riding or a minecart on rails. A furnace burns 4 cushions to smelt exactly 1 item. Unlike wool, cushions never dampen vibrations, so sculk sensors and sculk shriekers detect every sit and every step on Purple Cushion. Fire, lava, and pistons each destroy Purple Cushion, and the game re-checks the support block every 100 game ticks (5 seconds), so keep a full block underneath.
