Raw Porkchop
Porkchop is the raw meat dropped by pigs and hoglins in Minecraft — a renewable food (farmable endlessly by breeding pigs) that cooks into a top-tier meal.
Description
Cooked Porkchop, made by smelting the raw meat in a furnace, smoker, or campfire, restores 8 hunger points and 12.8 saturation, making the cooked meal one of the most dependable foods a survivor can farm. A smoker finishes the cooking in half the time of a furnace, so a smoker paired with a pig pen becomes the fastest sustainable food supply in the game. Porkchop is a renewable resource, because pigs breed from carrots, potatoes, and beetroots and respawn reliably in village pastures and forest biomes. Beyond eating, Porkchop can be fed to tamed wolves to restore their health during and after fights. For a steady hunger bar through mid- and late-game survival, a pig farm that yields Porkchop is hard to beat.

Java Edition Guide
How to get and cook Porkchop in Minecraft
-
1
Hunt pigs or hoglins
Kill pigs in the Overworld (1–3 Porkchop each) or hoglins in the Nether (2–4 each) to collect raw Porkchop.
-
2
Use a Fire Aspect sword for instant cooked drops
A sword enchanted with Fire Aspect, or a lava trap, makes pigs drop Cooked Porkchop directly, skipping the furnace step.
-
3
Cook the raw Porkchop
Place raw Porkchop in a furnace, smoker, or campfire with any fuel to turn it into Cooked Porkchop.
-
4
Prefer a smoker for speed
A smoker cooks Porkchop twice as fast as a furnace, making a smoker-and-pig-pen the fastest food setup in the game.
Hoglins deal heavy damage in the Nether, so hunt them with armor and a shield, or build a safe killing pen before farming Porkchop there.

Frequently asked questions
Can you craft Porkchop in Minecraft?
No. Porkchop cannot be crafted; it is dropped by pigs and hoglins when killed. Cooking raw Porkchop in a furnace, smoker, or campfire produces Cooked Porkchop.
How much hunger does Cooked Porkchop restore?
Cooked Porkchop restores 8 hunger points and 12.8 saturation. Raw Porkchop restores only 3 hunger and 0.6 saturation, so cooking the meat is almost always worth it.
Do pigs drop Cooked Porkchop if killed by fire?
Yes. If a pig or hoglin dies in fire, lava, or to a Fire Aspect sword, it drops Cooked Porkchop directly instead of raw Porkchop.
Is Porkchop renewable?
Yes. Pigs breed using carrots, potatoes, or beetroots, so a pig farm yields Porkchop endlessly without exploring new areas.
What drops the most Porkchop?
Hoglins in the Nether drop 2 to 4 Porkchop each, more than the 1 to 3 from pigs, and the Looting enchantment can raise either total by up to 3 at Looting III.
Can you feed Porkchop to wolves?
Yes. Both raw and Cooked Porkchop can be fed to tamed wolves to restore their health, just like other meat in Minecraft.
