How to Make Polished Diorite Stairs in Minecraft
Polished Diorite Stairs
Polished Diorite Stairs are the stair variant of polished diorite, letting builders connect floor levels with half-block steps instead of jumping.
Description
Polished Diorite Stairs connect floor levels faster than jumping: walking up stairs adds no exhaustion, while every jump adds 0.2 exhaustion to the hunger system. A placed stair orients its half-block side toward the player, flips upside-down when placed against the underside of a block, and joins neighboring stairs of any material into inner and outer corners automatically. Right-side-up stairs do not join with upside-down stairs. Builders combine Polished Diorite Stairs with polished diorite blocks and polished diorite slabs — 2 slabs per block in a stonecutter — so floors, steps, and ledges share one stone material.

Guide
How to get Polished Diorite Stairs in Minecraft
-
1
Craft polished diorite
Place 4 diorite blocks in a 2×2 square on a crafting table to produce 4 polished diorite blocks.
-
2
Craft the stairs
Arrange 6 polished diorite blocks in a stair pattern — a full left column of 3, 2 more in the middle column, and 1 in the bottom-right — to craft 4 Polished Diorite Stairs.
-
3
Use a stonecutter
Put diorite or polished diorite into a stonecutter to cut one stair per input block.
-
4
Place right side up or upside-down
Aim at the top of a block to set stairs right side up, or at the underside of a block to flip stairs upside-down; adjacent stairs of any material join into inner and outer corners automatically.
-
5
Mine with any pickaxe
Break Polished Diorite Stairs with any pickaxe, starting from wooden; mining without a pickaxe drops nothing.
Walking up Polished Diorite Stairs adds zero exhaustion, while every jump adds 0.2 exhaustion to the hunger bar — choose a staircase over a jump tower for long climbs.
