Description

Pale Oak Pressure Plate is a wooden redstone input made from pale oak, the pale wood added with the Pale Garden biome in Minecraft 1.21.4. Craft it from two pale oak planks placed side by side in a crafting table to get one plate. Once placed, it emits a redstone signal whenever any entity rests on it — a player, a mob, or even a dropped item or an arrow that lands on top. This is what sets wooden plates apart from stone ones: a stone pressure plate only reacts to mobs and players, while a wooden plate also senses items and projectiles. Use it to open doors automatically, trigger traps, or build item detectors and drop sorters. The plate is flammable, breaks instantly, and works in both Java 1.21.4 and Bedrock Edition.

How to craft and use a Pale Oak Pressure Plate in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Get pale oak planks

Chop a pale oak tree in the Pale Garden and turn the logs into pale oak planks.

  2. 2

    Craft the plate

Place two pale oak planks side by side in the crafting grid to make one pale oak pressure plate.

  3. 3

    Place it down

Set the plate on a solid block where you want something to step on it, such as a doorway.

  4. 4

    Wire the redstone

Run redstone dust from the plate to a door, dispenser, or lamp so it activates when triggered.

  5. 5

    Step or drop on it

Walk onto the plate, or drop an item or arrow on it, to send the redstone signal.

Wooden plates detect items too

Unlike stone pressure plates, wooden ones react to dropped items and arrows, so they work great as item detectors.
