How to craft and use a Pale Oak Fence in Minecraft
-
1
Get pale oak planks
Chop a pale oak tree in the Pale Garden and turn the logs into pale oak planks, then craft a few sticks.
-
2
Craft the fence
Place pale oak planks in the left and right columns of the middle and bottom rows with two sticks down the center to make three fences.
-
3
Build a barrier
Place the fences in a line — they snap together and to solid blocks, reaching 1.5 blocks high so mobs cannot jump over.
-
4
Make a pen
Close the loop with a Pale Oak Fence Gate so you can walk in and out while animals stay penned.
-
5
Tie up a mob
Use a lead on a passive mob, then attach the other end to the fence post to keep it from wandering off.
A fence renders one block high but has a 1.5-block collision box, so players and mobs can't hop over a single row.
