Oak Door
Oak Door is the basic two-block-tall wooden entryway — opens with a click, but zombies can break it on hard difficulty.
Description
On hard difficulty, zombies and certain raid mobs (vindicators always, regardless of difficulty) will attack the wooden variant during a siege, breaking through after roughly thirty seconds of contact. This is the trade-off versus iron doors: wood is cheap and player-openable, but not zombie-proof. Wooden doors of any species are flammable and will catch from nearby fire or lava. Villagers recognize this block as a valid building boundary and use it both for navigation pathing and for triggering panic behaviour during raids. Every wood family has its own door variant in matching colour.
Guide
How to use an Oak Door in Minecraft
-
1
Craft the door
Open a crafting table and fill the left two columns with six Oak Planks (three per column). This yields three Oak Doors per craft — one of the most material-efficient recipes in the game.
-
2
Place and open the door
Right-click a floor block to place the Oak Door. Right-click the placed door to open or close it. Either the top or bottom half responds to interaction, so you never need to aim precisely.
-
3
Create a double door
Place two Oak Doors side by side. They automatically pair: opening one swings both outward in opposite directions, creating a symmetrical double-door entrance without any redstone wiring.
-
4
Automate with redstone
Connect a button, lever, or pressure plate to either half of the Oak Door. Any redstone signal toggles both halves of a double door simultaneously, which is useful for automatic entrances in farms or bases.
-
5
Harden against zombies
On Hard difficulty, zombies break Oak Doors during sieges in roughly thirty seconds. Replace Oak Doors with Iron Doors on exposed entrances, or reinforce wooden doors with a surrounding wall that mobs cannot path around.
Vindicators can break Oak Doors regardless of difficulty setting — always use Iron Doors or a covered approach during raids.

Frequently asked questions
How many Oak Doors does one crafting recipe make?
One recipe using six Oak Planks produces three Oak Doors, making it one of the more efficient block recipes in the game.
Can zombies break an Oak Door?
Yes — on Hard difficulty, zombies will attack and break an Oak Door during sieges after roughly thirty seconds. Iron Doors are immune to zombie attacks.
Do Oak Doors work with redstone?
Yes. Any redstone signal — from a button, lever, pressure plate, or comparator — toggles the Oak Door open or closed. Both halves of a double door respond simultaneously.
How do I make a double door that opens automatically?
Place two Oak Doors side by side. They pair automatically. Add a pressure plate in front of each side, or wire a single button to both doors with redstone so both open at once.
Can Oak Doors catch fire?
Yes. Like all wooden blocks, Oak Doors are flammable and will burn when exposed to fire or lava. Use iron or other non-flammable doors in fire-prone areas.
Do villagers use Oak Doors?
Yes. Villagers recognize Oak Doors as valid building boundaries and use them for pathfinding. They also trigger panic behavior during raids when they detect certain threats.
