Description

Nether Brick Wall is a decorative wall variant of Nether Bricks that never generates naturally and never appears in a world without crafting or stonecutting. Placing six Nether Bricks in two horizontal rows on the crafting grid yields six Nether Brick Walls, and a stonecutter turns one Nether Bricks block into one Nether Brick Wall at the same 1:1 ratio. Nether Brick Wall is a renewable resource (the ingredient Nether Bricks is renewable, so players can farm walls endlessly), stacks to 64, and joined Minecraft in Java Edition 1.14 and Bedrock Edition 1.9.0. The source Nether Bricks blocks form the walls and supporting pillars of every nether fortress, so one fortress run supplies material for a whole battlement.

Mining Nether Brick Wall calls for a pickaxe: any pickaxe works, and mining without a pickaxe drops nothing at all. Nether Brick Wall is not flammable, cannot be set alight by lava, and accepts waterlogging (water shares the block space), so moats and canals flow straight through fortress parapets. Since Java Edition 1.16, vertically stacked Nether Brick Walls leave no gaps, letting tall curtain walls read as solid masonry. For red accents on the same silhouette, Minecraft also offers Red Nether Brick Wall.

Guide

How to craft and use Nether Brick Wall in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Collect Nether Bricks

Mine Nether Bricks from the walls and pillars of a nether fortress, or craft the block from four Nether Brick items in a 2x2 square. Any pickaxe works for mining.

  2. 2

    Craft six walls at once

Place six Nether Bricks in two horizontal rows of three on the crafting grid. One craft yields six Nether Brick Walls.

  3. 3

Cut single walls at the stonecutter

Put one Nether Bricks block into a stonecutter to receive one Nether Brick Wall. The 1:1 ratio matches crafting, useful when only one or two walls are needed.

  4. 4

    Mine only with a pickaxe

Break Nether Brick Wall with any pickaxe to collect the block. Nether Brick Wall broken without a pickaxe drops nothing.

  5. 5

    Build with water

Nether Brick Wall is waterloggable (water can share the block space), so place walls directly inside moats and canals to keep water flowing.

Tall walls without gaps

Since Java Edition 1.16 and Bedrock 1.16.0, Nether Brick Wall stacks vertically with no gaps, so tall curtain walls and battlements read as solid masonry.
