Description

Mossy Stone Brick Slab is a half-height slab cut from mossy stone bricks, a weathered building stone that also generates naturally in ruined portals in the Overworld. A crafting table turns three mossy stone bricks placed in one row into six Mossy Stone Brick Slabs, and a stonecutter cuts a single mossy stone brick into two slabs. Harvesting requires a pickaxe — a bare hand or the wrong tool leaves no drop at all. Mossy Stone Brick Slab has a hardness of 1.5, a blast resistance of 6, and stacks to 64.

Builders reach for Mossy Stone Brick Slab whenever fresh stone brickwork needs to look aged: the moss-streaked surface suits ruined-portal restorations, fortress-style walls, and overgrown garden paths. Each slab fills the top or the bottom half of a block space, and two matching slabs placed in one space merge into a double slab with the height of a full block. Mossy Stone Brick Slab can also be waterlogged, with water filling the slab's empty half of the block, so pools and canals keep an even floor. Hostile mobs cannot spawn on bottom-half slabs, a quirk redstone builders exploit in mob farms.

Guide

How to Get Mossy Stone Brick Slab in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Loot a ruined portal

Explore the Overworld until you find a ruined portal. Mossy stone brick slabs generate as part of the ruined portal structure, and any pickaxe mines them on the spot.

  2. 2

    Craft from mossy stone bricks

Place three mossy stone bricks in one horizontal row on the crafting grid to craft six mossy stone brick slabs.

  3. 3

    Cut bricks on a stonecutter

Put a single mossy stone brick into a stonecutter to cut two mossy stone brick slabs — a one-brick option for small repairs.

  4. 4

Merge two slabs into a full block

Place one mossy stone brick slab in the bottom half of a block space and a second slab in the top half; the pair combines into a double slab the size of a full block.

Bring a pickaxe

Mossy Stone Brick Slab drops nothing when mined without a pickaxe, and a wooden pickaxe already breaks a slab in 1.15 seconds.
