Description
Magma Block generates naturally throughout the Nether — especially in basalt deltas and around lava lakes — and underwater near the floor of warm ocean biomes, where it forms the source of bubble columns. The texture is dark grey with bright orange cracks suggesting glowing molten rock beneath a thin crust, and the block emits light at level three (a soft ambient glow rather than usable illumination).
Walking on the surface deals one heart of damage per second to any entity without fire resistance or frost-walker boots — including the player. Combined with iron-door alcoves, this becomes a passive killing surface for mob farms: pipe enemies onto the block and let the burns finish them. Underwater, the block does not deal damage but generates a downward bubble column above it, dragging entities (and items) beneath the surface, ideal for elevators that lower the player rather than lift them. Mining requires a wood-tier or higher pickaxe; without silk touch, the block drops itself, allowing easy harvesting.
