Lime Banner never generates naturally in Minecraft structures, so players obtain every banner through crafting, copying, or buying from villagers. The hardness value of Lime Banner is 1: breaking by hand takes 1.5 seconds, and an axe is the fastest tool. The lime base color locks in at crafting time and cannot be re-dyed afterward. Lime Banner is a renewable resource and has been part of Minecraft since Java Edition 1.8 and Bedrock Edition 1.2.0.
Placed on the ground in 16 orientations or mounted on a wall, Lime Banner accepts up to six pattern layers stamped at a loom with dyes, and a cauldron of water washes off the top layer. A patterned Lime Banner transfers the design onto a blank shield in the crafting grid; crafting consumes one banner, and the shield must carry no patterns yet. Crafting a finished Lime Banner together with a fresh lime banner returns two identical banners, which keeps long decoration rows cheap. One Lime Banner also smelts 1.5 items as furnace fuel, and in Java Edition a map used on a placed banner records a colored marker at that spot. Players and mobs walk straight through a placed banner because banners have no collision, and a wall-mounted Lime Banner drops as an item the moment the support block disappears.
