Description

Light Gray Candle is the dyed light-gray variant of the Minecraft candle, crafted from one plain Candle plus one Light Gray Dye in the crafting grid. The plain Candle itself comes from one String placed above one Honeycomb, so a Light Gray Candle always starts as string, honeycomb, and dye. Light Gray Candle never generates in structures, never appears in loot chests, and is never sold by villagers, because generated worlds and trader stock only offer plain, white, red, yellow, brown, green, and purple candles. Light Gray Candles therefore come from the crafting grid only.

A single lit Light Gray Candle emits light level 3 on the 0–15 brightness scale, and each extra candle in the same block space adds 3 more, up to a maximum of 12 with four candles. Light Gray Candle is placed unlit and ignites after contact with flint and steel, a fire charge, or any flaming projectile; water, a wind charge, or a player's click extinguishes the flame. A single Light Gray Candle tops an uneaten cake as a candle cake, dropping back as an item when the cake is eaten or destroyed. Light Gray Candle breaks in 0.15 seconds with any tool or bare hands (hardness 0.1) and stacks to 64.

How to craft and light a Light Gray Candle in Minecraft

Can a Light Gray Candle be recolored with another dye?

No. Once a candle is dyed, the color is permanent, and combining a plain Candle with a different dye simply crafts that other color.
