Light Blue Terracotta is the dyed form of terracotta, obtained by placing one light blue dye in the center of a crafting grid and filling the eight remaining slots with plain terracotta — a single crafting operation yields eight Light Blue Terracotta blocks. The dyeing recipe is irreversible: once terracotta has been dyed, the color cannot be changed or removed. Light Blue Terracotta also generates naturally in warm ocean ruins, so players exploring warm oceans can collect the block without spending a single dye. Minecraft added all sixteen stained terracotta colors, Light Blue Terracotta included, in Java Edition 1.6.1.

Light Blue Terracotta requires a pickaxe for harvesting: a wooden pickaxe breaks the block in 0.95 seconds and a stone pickaxe in 0.5 seconds, while mining without a pickaxe drops nothing. Light Blue Terracotta has hardness 1.25, blast resistance 4.2, never catches fire, and stacks to 64. Expert-level mason villagers trade all sixteen terracotta colors, which makes Light Blue Terracotta a renewable resource (you can farm it endlessly by trading). A furnace smelts Light Blue Terracotta into Light Blue Glazed Terracotta and grants 0.1 experience per block. Light Blue Terracotta fits pale-blue walls, floors, and decorative trim in survival builds.
