Light Blue Banner is a decorative flag block obtained by crafting six light blue wool blocks and one stick: the wool fills the top two rows of the crafting grid, and the stick sits below the center, mirroring the sign recipe. Once crafted, Light Blue Banner keeps the light blue base color forever, so a different base color requires a new banner. Light Blue Banner stacks to 16, shows hardness 1 and blast resistance 1, breaks with or without a tool, and an axe works fastest. Light Blue Banner is renewable, and cartographer and shepherd villagers also sell banners. All sixteen banner colors, Light Blue Banner included, arrived in Java Edition 1.8 and Bedrock Edition 1.2.0.

A loom (the pattern station for banners) customizes Light Blue Banner with up to six pattern layers, and every layer requires a dye; optional banner pattern items are never consumed. A cauldron filled with water washes off only the top layer. Combining a finished Light Blue Banner with a blank banner of the same base color duplicates the design into two identical banners. A shield without patterns accepts the same design: crafting a shield with Light Blue Banner prints the pattern onto the shield while the banner is consumed. In Java Edition, using a map on Light Blue Banner adds a marker in the banner's base color, and the marker disappears when the banner breaks. Light Blue Banner also smelts 1.5 items per banner in a furnace, so spare banners double as emergency fuel.
