Leaf Litter is a thin, walkable ground cover block that Minecraft added in the Spring to Life drop (Java Edition 1.21.5, Bedrock Edition 1.21.70), generating under and around trees in forests, dark forests, dappled forests, and wooded badlands. Smelting any leaves block in a furnace, smoker, or campfire produces one Leaf Litter in 200 ticks (10 seconds), and the recipe needs no crafting table. Leaf Litter breaks instantly with any tool or bare hand and never requires Silk Touch, so harvesting naturally generated patches is trivial. Up to four Leaf Litter layers stack inside a single block space, mirroring the snow-layer mechanic, and breaking the block drops as many items as layers were placed. Leaf Litter is flammable and serves as furnace fuel, smelting 0.5 items per layer (a full stack smelts 32 items). Builders use Leaf Litter for forest paths, autumn ground texture, and the weathered dead-leaf look that no full leaves block can imitate. The renewable supply is effectively infinite, since any tree farm yields leaves that smelt straight into Leaf Litter.
