Description

Elder Guardian Spawn Egg is a Creative-mode item that instantly spawns an Elder Guardian wherever you right-click. Added to Minecraft Java Edition in version 1.8 and present in Bedrock Edition, Elder Guardian Spawn Egg cannot be crafted, mined, or obtained in Survival — it appears only in the Creative inventory or through the /give command (minecraft:elder_guardian_spawn_egg). The egg shows the Guardian's signature teal body with darker spot markings, matching the Elder Guardian's washed-out grey-green coloring.

Right-clicking with Elder Guardian Spawn Egg summons a hostile Elder Guardian with 80 health that fires a laser beam, retaliates with spikes, and projects Mining Fatigue III onto every player within 50 blocks. A spawned Elder Guardian behaves exactly like one from an ocean monument: it always drops a single wet sponge on death, along with prismarine shards, prismarine crystals, and raw cod. Builders and map-makers use Elder Guardian Spawn Egg to populate custom aquatic arenas or to test sponge and prismarine farms without raiding a natural monument.

How to use the Elder Guardian Spawn Egg in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Open the Creative inventory

Switch to Creative mode and find Elder Guardian Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs tab, or run /give @s minecraft:elder_guardian_spawn_egg to add it in any mode.

  2. 2

    Pick a spawn spot

Aim at a solid block or water surface where you want the Elder Guardian to appear; the mob is large, so leave at least a 3-block-wide gap.

  3. 3

    Right-click to spawn

Use the egg on the chosen block to summon a live Elder Guardian instantly at that location.

  4. 4

    Manage the boss

Stay back from its laser, expect Mining Fatigue III within 50 blocks, and kill the Elder Guardian to collect a guaranteed wet sponge plus prismarine.

Survival note

Elder Guardian Spawn Egg is unavailable in Survival mode; in Survival you must find an Elder Guardian inside an ocean monument, where exactly three of them always spawn.

Frequently asked questions

Can you craft an Elder Guardian Spawn Egg?

No. Elder Guardian Spawn Egg has no crafting recipe and cannot be obtained in Survival; it exists only in the Creative inventory or via the /give command.

What does the Elder Guardian Spawn Egg spawn?

It spawns a single Elder Guardian, the boss-sized variant of the Guardian with 80 health that inflicts Mining Fatigue III on nearby players.

Does the Elder Guardian Spawn Egg work in both Java and Bedrock?

Yes. Elder Guardian Spawn Egg exists in both Minecraft Java Edition (since 1.8) and Bedrock Edition, with identical spawning behavior.

What does a spawned Elder Guardian drop?

A killed Elder Guardian always drops one wet sponge, plus prismarine shards, prismarine crystals, and raw cod — the same loot as a monument Elder Guardian.

Can the Elder Guardian Spawn Egg be used underwater?

Yes. Elder Guardian is an aquatic mob, so the egg works best on water; spawned on land, the Elder Guardian flops and slowly takes damage out of water.
