Description

Disc Fragment is a rare loot item in Minecraft, introduced in Java Edition 1.19 and Bedrock Edition 1.19 during The Wild Update. It generates only inside Ancient City loot chests, which spawn in the Deep Dark biome deep underground, usually below Y level 0. On its own a fragment does nothing: it cannot be placed as a block or used as a tool. Its single purpose is crafting. Placing nine Disc Fragments across a full 3x3 crafting grid produces one Music Disc 5, which plays the track "5" composed by Samuel Aberg when inserted into a jukebox. Music Disc 5 is the only music disc in the game that must be crafted rather than found or dropped by a mob. Because Ancient Cities are dangerous and guarded by the blind Warden, gathering enough fragments takes careful, quiet exploration. Disc Fragments stack up to 64, so a full set is easy to carry once collected. The item behaves the same in Java and Bedrock editions.

How to get Disc Fragments and craft Music Disc 5 in Minecraft

    Find an Ancient City

    Travel down to the Deep Dark biome below Y 0 and locate an Ancient City structure built from deepslate and sculk.

    Loot the chests

    Open the loot chests scattered around the city; each chest has roughly an 18.9% chance to contain Disc Fragments.

    Collect nine fragments

    Gather at least nine Disc Fragments while avoiding the Warden by staying quiet and watching sculk sensors.

    Craft Music Disc 5

    Fill all nine slots of a 3x3 crafting grid with Disc Fragments to craft one Music Disc 5.

    Play the disc

    Insert Music Disc 5 into a jukebox to play the track "5" by Samuel Aberg.

Important

Music Disc 5 is the only music disc you cannot find ready-made; it must be assembled from nine Disc Fragments.
