How to craft and use a Diamond Spear in Minecraft
-
1
Craft the spear
Place 1 diamond in the top cell with 2 sticks directly below it in the 3x3 grid to craft one Diamond Spear.
-
2
Jab nearby enemies
Attack while standing on the ground: the jab deals 4 damage and reaches up to 4.5 blocks, then waits out a roughly 1-second cooldown.
-
3
Charge while moving
Hold the use key and sprint so your speed differs by 5+ blocks per second; colliding with a target deals bonus damage scaled to your velocity.
-
4
Dismount riders
Land a charge attack on a mounted enemy to knock the rider off their horse, pig, or other mount.
-
5
Enchant and upgrade
Apply Sharpness, Smite, or the spear-only Lunge at an enchanting table, then upgrade to a Netherite Spear with a netherite ingot at a smithing table.
In Bedrock Edition the Diamond Spear has 1562 durability instead of Java's 1561; in both editions the spear cannot deal critical hits or sprint-knockback.
