Description

Cut Sandstone Slab is a decorative half-block crafted from cut sandstone, and the slab never generates naturally in Minecraft — every piece comes from a crafting table or a stonecutter. Mining Cut Sandstone Slab requires a pickaxe, and even a wooden pickaxe qualifies, while mining without any pickaxe drops nothing. Cut Sandstone Slab stacks to 64, does not catch fire, and survives contact with lava. A single Cut Sandstone Slab fills only the bottom or top half of a block space, and placing two slabs together combines the pair into one solid double slab.

Crafting places three cut sandstone blocks in one horizontal row and yields six Cut Sandstone Slabs, so three ingredient blocks become six finishing pieces. A stonecutter cuts one sandstone or one cut sandstone into two slabs at a time, and accepting plain sandstone directly saves the step of crafting cut sandstone first. Builders choose Cut Sandstone Slab when floors, window sills, cornices, and stepped roof edges need the look of cut sandstone in a thinner profile than a full block. In Java Edition a single Cut Sandstone Slab partially blocks light, while the double slab leaves no gap for light at all.

    Craft six slabs

Place three cut sandstone blocks in one horizontal row of the crafting grid to receive six Cut Sandstone Slabs.

  3. 3

Put sandstone or cut sandstone into a stonecutter to receive two Cut Sandstone Slabs per input block.

Slabs and water
