Description

Crimson Shelf is a decorative Nether-wood block that stores up to three item stacks in three slots and displays their contents on its front. Each slot of Crimson Shelf holds one full stack of a stackable item or a single non-stackable item, and using a slot swaps its contents with the item in the player's hand. Crimson Shelf is crafted from six Stripped Crimson Stems, and one craft yields six shelves.

Redstone turns Crimson Shelf into a hotbar swapper: a powered one swaps all three slots at once with the three rightmost hotbar slots, and two or three connected powered shelves swap six or nine slots. A redstone comparator reads the slots of Crimson Shelf as signal strength 1 (left), 2 (middle) and 4 (right), up to 7 in total. Unlike the wooden shelves of the Overworld, Crimson Shelf does not burn and cannot fuel a furnace, because Nether shelves are not fuel.

Craft six shelves

Six Stripped Crimson Stems arranged in two rows of three with an empty row between them yield six Crimson Shelves at a crafting table.

Mind the facing

Crimson Shelf is placed with its front facing the player who places it, and a redstone comparator reads it only from the back.

Swap items

Each slot of Crimson Shelf swaps its contents with the item in the player's main hand when used.

Power the shelf

A redstone signal joins the three slots of Crimson Shelf, so one use swaps all three items with the rightmost hotbar slots.

Connect shelves

Two or three powered shelves placed side by side connect, and one use then swaps six or nine hotbar slots. In Java Edition, only shelves facing the same direction connect.
