Description

Copper Boots are the boots piece of Minecraft's copper armor tier, added to Java Edition in version 1.21.9 and to Bedrock Edition in 1.21.100 as part of the Copper Age drop. Four copper ingots arranged in the standard boot pattern on a crafting table yield one pair of Copper Boots, which grants 1 armor point and has a durability of 143 in Java Edition (144 in Bedrock Edition). Copper Boots sit between leather and chainmail in the armor ladder, with an enchantability value of 8 that makes Copper Boots easier to enchant than iron boots. The set is renewable, because copper ingots are produced indefinitely from copper ore smelted in a furnace or blast furnace.

Copper Boots are a practical early-game upgrade over leather boots because the higher durability of 143 outlasts leather's 65, while the matching copper chestplate, leggings and helmet complete a five-point full-set bonus that fills the gap before iron gear. Worn boots can be repaired on an anvil with copper ingots, where each ingot restores 25 percent of the maximum durability and preserves existing enchantments, or two damaged pairs can be combined in a grindstone for a 5 percent bonus at the cost of any enchantments. Zombies, skeletons and bogged have a small chance to spawn already wearing Copper Boots, and a damaged pair smelts back into a single copper nugget when fuel is scarce.

Guide

How to craft and repair Copper Boots in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Smelt copper ore into ingots

Mine raw copper from copper ore blobs found between Y=−16 and Y=112, then smelt the raw copper in a furnace or blast furnace to produce copper ingots. Four ingots make one pair of Copper Boots.

  2. 2

    Arrange the boot pattern

Open a crafting table and place four copper ingots in the standard boot pattern: two ingots in the left column and two in the right column of the bottom two rows, leaving the center and top row empty.

  3. 3

    Collect the Copper Boots

Pick up the resulting Copper Boots from the crafting output slot. One pair provides 1 armor point and has a durability of 143 in Java Edition.

  4. 4

Repair on an anvil with copper ingots

When durability drops, repair Copper Boots on an anvil by adding copper ingots; each ingot restores 25 percent of maximum durability and keeps any enchantments intact.

  5. 5

    Recycle a worn-out pair

Smelt a damaged pair of Copper Boots in a furnace to recover one copper nugget, a useful fallback when fuel is plentiful but ingots are scarce.
