Description

Copper Bars are the copper variant of bars, a thin metal block that serves a similar purpose to glass panes but, unlike Iron Bars, shows a copper orange color. Six copper ingots in two rows of three on the crafting grid produce 16 Copper Bars, which stack to 64. Copper Bars are renewable (they can be obtained again and again), transparent, and do not burn or catch fire from lava.

Copper Bars pass through four oxidation stages, as other copper blocks do: normal copper orange, exposed with discolored green spots, weathered in green with brown spots, and oxidized in teal with green spots. A lightning bolt or an axe strips the oxidation away, and a honeycomb used on Copper Bars waxes them, which stops oxidation from progressing. Beside other blocks, Copper Bars connect like fences and glass panes, forming a slim tall column when alone and a flat, corner, T or cross shape next to neighbors. Between a door and a solid block, Copper Bars make a narrow slit that mobs see and attack through, and arrows fly through the slit but never through the bars themselves.

Guide

How to craft and care for Copper Bars in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft 16 Copper Bars

Six copper ingots in two rows of three on the crafting grid produce 16 Copper Bars in one craft.

  2. 2

    Place the bars

Copper Bars placed next to a block or other bars connect to it and turn flat, corner, T or cross shaped, while a lone set of bars stays a slim column.

  3. 3

    Let the bars oxidize

Unwaxed Copper Bars move through the exposed, weathered and oxidized stages over time, shifting from copper orange to teal.

  4. 4

    Wax the bars

A honeycomb used on Copper Bars waxes them. Unwaxed bars and a honeycomb together on the crafting grid give the matching waxed bars of the same oxidation stage.

  5. 5

    Remove the oxidation

A lightning bolt or an axe removes oxidation from Copper Bars.

Wax freezes the stage

Waxed Copper Bars no longer oxidize, so waxing at the exposed or weathered stage keeps that half-oxidized look permanently.

Frequently asked questions

Which tool mines Copper Bars?

Any pickaxe mines Copper Bars, and a wooden pickaxe is enough. Mining without a pickaxe drops nothing.

Which Minecraft version added Copper Bars?

Copper Bars were added in Java Edition 1.21.9 and in Bedrock Edition 1.21.111.

How do Copper Bars differ from Iron Bars?

Copper Bars are copper orange and oxidize over time, while Iron Bars do not oxidize. Both are crafted the same way: six ingots give 16 bars.

Can Copper Bars hold water?

Water can occupy the same space as Copper Bars, because Copper Bars can be placed waterlogged.
