Description

Cinnabar Stairs is the stepped decorative variant of Cinnabar added in Minecraft 26.2 "Chaos Cubed". Cinnabar Stairs is crafted from six Cinnabar blocks arranged in a staircase pattern across the crafting grid, yielding four Cinnabar Stairs, or produced one-to-one on a Stonecutter. Cinnabar Stairs handles roof slopes, raised platforms, ziggurat tiers and smooth elevation changes inside Sulfur Caves builds, where a vertical Cinnabar wall would clip the sightline. Cinnabar Stairs auto-orients on placement, supports inner and outer corner shapes and merges visually with Cinnabar Slab seams for a continuous red trim that climbs across Deepslate or Blackstone bases.

Building Guide

How to craft and use Cinnabar Stairs in Minecraft 26.2

  1. 1

    Find Cinnabar in Sulfur Caves

Cinnabar blocks generate naturally inside Sulfur Cave biomes. Mine them with a stone pickaxe or better — a weaker tool drops nothing.

  2. 2

Craft Cinnabar Stairs on a Crafting Table

Arrange 6 Cinnabar blocks in the standard staircase pattern across the 3×3 crafting grid: fill the bottom row, place 2 blocks on the left in the middle row, and 1 block in the top-left corner. This yields 4 Cinnabar Stairs.

  3. 3

Use the Stonecutter for single units

Place one Cinnabar block into a Stonecutter to receive exactly 1 Cinnabar Stair. The Stonecutter is more efficient when you need an odd number of stairs without leftover blocks.

  4. 4

Place stairs for slopes and elevations

Right-click a surface to place a Cinnabar Stair. The block auto-orients to face you and connects to adjacent stairs, forming smooth inner and outer corners. Use Cinnabar Stairs for roof slopes, raised platforms, ziggurat tiers and gentle height transitions in Sulfur Cave-themed builds.

Tip

Cinnabar Stairs and Cinnabar Slabs share the same red texture, so combining both creates a continuous decorative trim on Deepslate or Blackstone bases without visible seams.

Frequently asked questions

How do you craft Cinnabar Stairs?

Arrange 6 Cinnabar blocks in a staircase pattern across the 3×3 crafting grid to receive 4 Cinnabar Stairs. Alternatively, place 1 Cinnabar block into a Stonecutter to get exactly 1 Cinnabar Stair.

Where do you find Cinnabar in Minecraft?

Cinnabar generates naturally in Sulfur Cave biomes added in Minecraft 26.2 Chaos Cubed. Mine with a stone pickaxe or better to collect the block drop.

What version added Cinnabar Stairs?

Cinnabar Stairs were introduced in Minecraft 26.2 Chaos Cubed, released in June 2026, alongside Cinnabar, Cinnabar Slab and Sulfur Cave biomes.

Do Cinnabar Stairs support inner and outer corners?

Yes. Cinnabar Stairs automatically form inner and outer corner shapes when placed adjacent to other stairs, allowing smooth curved transitions in roofs and platforms.

What tool breaks Cinnabar Stairs fastest?

A pickaxe breaks Cinnabar Stairs fastest. A stone pickaxe is the minimum tier required to collect the block as a drop.

Can you convert Cinnabar Stairs back into Cinnabar blocks?

No. Like all stair blocks in Minecraft, Cinnabar Stairs cannot be converted back into Cinnabar blocks. Use the Stonecutter for precision cuts to minimise material waste.
