Description

The Chainmail Chestplate occupies the slot between leather and iron armor, granting 5 armor points and a durability pool of 240 hits. It cannot be assembled at a crafting table in survival mode; instead, players acquire it through trading with armorer villagers, by looting dungeon, stronghold, and jungle temple chests, or as a rare drop from zombies and skeletons that spawn already wearing the piece. Creative mode also offers the item directly from the inventory.

Worn in the chest slot, the piece contributes +5 protection to the player's defense bar and accepts the full set of body-armor enchantments, including Protection, Thorns, Unbreaking, and Mending. Damaged copies can be repaired on an anvil by combining two worn pieces or, since update 1.14, by using iron ingots as repair material. Its visual design references medieval interlinked rings, distinguishing it clearly from leather, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite tiers.
