Description
Blue Shulker Box turns endgame storage into inventory math: 37 shulker boxes across the inventory, hotbar and off-hand hold up to 999 stacks — 63,936 items — in Java Edition. A hopper can load or empty a placed Blue Shulker Box, and a redstone comparator reads shulker box fullness even when opening is blocked. A Blue Shulker Box fits inside every container except another shulker box and a bundle. Piglins turn hostile toward players who open or mine any shulker box — a reaction shared by all sixteen dye colors.

Craft the base shulker box
Place one chest on the crafting grid with a shulker shell directly above and directly below the chest to craft one shulker box. Shulker shells drop from shulkers, the hostile mob of End cities.

Dye the shulker box blue
Put the shulker box and one blue dye anywhere on the crafting grid to craft a Blue Shulker Box. Items stored inside the shulker box stay inside through the dyeing.

Fill the box and carry it
Place the Blue Shulker Box, load its 27 slots with cargo, then break the box — a pickaxe works fastest. The dropped Blue Shulker Box item keeps all 27 slots of cargo inside.

Leave headroom for the lid
Keep half a block of space clear on the side the Blue Shulker Box lid faces. An upside-down slab or an upper trapdoor above the box still leaves room for opening.

Wash off the blue dye when needed
Use the Blue Shulker Box on a cauldron filled with water to remove the blue dye. The cauldron loses one water level, and the items inside the Blue Shulker Box stay inside.
A piston push turns a Blue Shulker Box into its item form with the cargo intact, and pistons cannot pull a shulker box at all — plan piston doors and storage walls accordingly.

A shulker box is not flammable and never catches fire from lava. Destroying a shulker box in item form, however, drops the stored items.
What happens when a creeper or TNT destroys a placed Blue Shulker Box?
Unlike most blocks with an inventory, a shulker box destroyed by an explosion always drops itself. The stored items stay inside the dropped Blue Shulker Box.
Can a dispenser place a Blue Shulker Box?
Dispensers place shulker boxes. A Blue Shulker Box faces upward when a block sits below the landing spot and matches the dispenser's facing otherwise.
Can redstone detect a Blue Shulker Box?
Observers detect every opening and closing of a shulker box lid. A closed Blue Shulker Box conducts redstone like a solid block, and an open one does not.
Do Blue Shulker Boxes stack?
