Blue Ice
Blue Ice is the densest ice variant — fastest boat surface in vanilla, eighty-one ice cubes per block, generates in iceberg cores.

Description
Blue Ice is the third tier of ice compression: nine packed-ice blocks arranged in a 3×3 grid yield one block, which means each block represents eighty-one regular ice cubes — the heaviest material investment in the ice family. The block also generates naturally at the bottom of large icebergs in frozen ocean biomes, where centuries of pressure (in lore terms) have compressed the surface ice into this denser form.
Boats travelling across blue ice move dramatically faster than on any other surface in vanilla — roughly seventy-two blocks per second compared to forty on packed ice. Long-distance highways between bases, especially in the Nether (where one block of overworld distance equals eight blocks of Nether distance), use blue-ice rails as the gold standard for fast travel: place a one-block-wide channel of blue ice with a single boat on top, and the player can cross thousands of blocks in seconds. The block does not melt under any light source and remains opaque, like packed ice. Mining requires a silk-touch pickaxe; without enchantment, the block drops nothing.
