Blue Bed is the blue variant of the Minecraft bed, a utility block that lets a player sleep through the night and set a spawn point within a few blocks of the bed. One Blue Bed is crafted from three blue wool in the top crafting row and three planks of any wood type in the bottom row, so the whole recipe costs nothing beyond sheep wool and logs. Combining a bed of any other color with blue dye on the crafting grid also yields a Blue Bed. Shepherd villagers at the Journeyman level sell beds of every color for three emeralds each. Blue Bed registers hardness 0.2 and blast resistance 0.2, breaks with any tool because no tool speeds the job, and never stacks, leaving one bed per inventory slot.

Blue Bed works only in the Overworld: a player sleeps at night or during a thunderstorm, and using the bed during the day still stores the respawn point. Monsters within eight blocks of the bed's head prevent sleep until they leave or die, and in multiplayer the night passes only when every Overworld player lies in a bed at once. Using a Blue Bed in the Nether or the End detonates it with explosion power 5 — stronger than TNT at 4 — and sets the surroundings on fire, a blast players aim at ancient debris or the ender dragon. Falling onto a Blue Bed bounces a living entity at 75 percent of impact velocity and cuts the fall distance counted in half, while villagers claim spare beds at night and need them to breed.
