Description

Blackstone Stairs are a decorative stairs variant of Blackstone, generated naturally as parts of bastion remnants and craftable by every player. The crafting recipe places 6 Blackstone blocks in a stair pattern — two in the top row, one in the middle, three in the bottom — and yields 4 Blackstone Stairs. A stonecutter cuts Blackstone into Blackstone Stairs as well. Any pickaxe breaks Blackstone Stairs, a wooden pickaxe is already enough, and mining without a pickaxe drops nothing. Blackstone Stairs stack to 64, emit no light, cannot be ignited by lava, and support waterlogging.

In building, Blackstone Stairs give dark palettes a matching stair block: fortress gateways, stair runs along Blackstone walls, and decorative edges on dark fortresses. Blackstone Stairs are a renewable resource (piglins barter 8–16 Blackstone at an 8.71% chance per trade), so large projects never run short of stair blocks. A bastion remnant itself supplies ready-made Blackstone Stairs for any pickaxe. Minecraft added Blackstone Stairs in Java Edition 1.16 and Bedrock Edition 1.16.0.
