Description

Black Bundle is a black-dyed Bundle that stores several different item types in one inventory slot, up to the space of a single 64-item stack. Black Bundle is crafted by combining any Bundle with Black Dye in the crafting grid, and a plain Bundle itself comes from 1 String and 1 Leather. Black Bundle has existed in Java Edition since 1.21.2, and in Java Edition a bundle that is already black cannot be dyed black again.

Each stored item takes space by its stack size: an item that stacks to 64 takes 1/64 of the space, an item that stacks to 16 (Eggs, Ender Pearls) takes 1/16, and an item that does not stack, such as an Iron Sword, fills the whole bundle. Another Bundle can sit inside Black Bundle for 1/16 of the space plus the inner bundle's contents, but a Shulker Box never fits. The fullness bar on the icon is blue and turns red when Black Bundle is full, and if a dropped Black Bundle is destroyed by Fire or a Cactus, the contents drop as items. Black Bundle is one of 16 dye colors that bundles come in, picked so a player can recognize a container by color at a glance.

Guide

How to make and use a Black Bundle in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft a Bundle

Place 1 String and 1 Leather in the crafting grid to craft a Bundle.

  2. 2

    Dye the Bundle black

Place the Bundle and 1 Black Dye in the crafting grid in any arrangement to craft Black Bundle.

  3. 3

    Put items in

Open the inventory, pick up items with the cursor, and left-click Black Bundle to store them; left-clicking an item while the cursor holds Black Bundle also stores it.

  4. 4

    Take items out

Hover the cursor over Black Bundle, scroll to select an item, and right-click to pick it up; without scrolling, a right-click takes the most recently added item.

  5. 5

    Throw the contents out

Select Black Bundle in the hotbar and use it to throw out the contents of the most recently added slot in the direction the player faces.

Bundle in a Shulker Box

Black Bundle can be placed inside a Shulker Box, so one Shulker Box can carry several bundles with mixed contents.

Frequently asked questions

Can Black Bundle be stacked?

No. Black Bundle has a stack size of 1, so each bundle needs its own inventory slot, but each one holds the space of a full stack of items.

Is Black Bundle renewable?

Yes. Black Bundle is renewable (you can obtain it again and again) through the Bundle and Black Dye recipe.

Can Black Bundle be dyed another color?

Yes. The dyeing recipe accepts any Bundle, so Black Bundle can be combined with a different dye to change its color. In Java Edition, a bundle cannot be dyed the color it already has.

How many Ender Pearls fit in Black Bundle?

16 Ender Pearls fit, because each Ender Pearl takes 1/16 of the space; Sticks stack to 64, so 64 of them fit.

Which editions have Black Bundle?

Black Bundle exists in both: in Java Edition since 1.21.2 and in Bedrock Edition since 1.21.40.

Can a Bundle be found in chests?

A plain Bundle can generate in some village chests since Java Edition 1.21.5 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.70; Black Dye makes it black.
