Bamboo Sign is a non-solid block that displays up to four lines of text on each side — the sign variant that matches builds made of Bamboo Planks. Crafting follows the standard sign recipe: six Bamboo Planks plus one Stick yield three Bamboo Signs. Bamboo Planks start from bamboo, a fast-growing plant scattered through jungle biomes and densest in bamboo jungle areas; nine bamboo craft into a Block of Bamboo, and the block gives two Bamboo Planks. Breaking works with any tool or bare hands, an axe is fastest, and Bamboo Sign drops itself as an item whenever the supporting block is moved, removed or destroyed. A stack holds 16 Bamboo Signs, and fast bamboo growth keeps the recipe renewable.

Placed on the top or side of a block, Bamboo Sign opens a text editor for up to four lines per side, and the back side takes separate text after the front. Using a placed Bamboo Sign again reopens the editor, a dye recolors all four lines, a Glow Ink Sac adds glowing outlined text, and a regular Ink Sac removes the glow. A Honeycomb waxes Bamboo Sign so no player can edit the text. Water and lava flow around Bamboo Sign without destroying signs, and mobs and dropped items pass through signs because signs have no collision. One Bamboo Sign smelts one item as furnace fuel. Bamboo Signs joined Minecraft in Java 1.20 and Bedrock 1.20.0, after debuting behind experimental toggles in snapshot 22w42a and Preview 1.19.50.21.
