Bamboo Mosaic
Unique bamboo plank variant with a herringbone pattern, crafted from two bamboo slabs and expandable into its own Bamboo Mosaic Slabs and Stairs for floors, walls, and accent panels.
Description
The pattern is formed by alternating the grain direction of bamboo strips, creating diagonal lines that resemble traditional woven bamboo matting. This makes it popular for Asian-inspired interiors, spas, and organic-themed builds where other plank types would appear too linear.
Bamboo mosaic shares the same flammability and blast resistance as regular bamboo planks. It can be used in all contexts where planks are accepted — floors, walls, ceilings, furniture surfaces — but its visual uniqueness is best exploited as a primary floor surface or accent panel. The block is renewable since bamboo grows rapidly without any replanting effort, making it a zero-cost decorative material once a farm is established.

How to craft and use Bamboo Mosaic in Minecraft
-
1
Gather bamboo
Find bamboo growing naturally in Jungle, Sparse Jungle, or Bamboo Jungle biomes. Break stalks by hand or with any tool. Apply bone meal to accelerate growth. Bamboo is renewable and grows back quickly.
-
2
Craft Bamboo Planks
Open a crafting table and place bamboo (the item) in any single slot to craft Bamboo Planks — 1 bamboo yields 2 planks. These are the foundation of the entire bamboo wood family.
-
3
Craft Bamboo Slabs
Arrange 3 Bamboo Planks in a horizontal row in the crafting grid to produce 6 Bamboo Slabs. You need at least 2 slabs to proceed.
-
4
Craft Bamboo Mosaic
Place 2 Bamboo Slabs vertically (stacked in a column) in the crafting grid to receive 1 Bamboo Mosaic block. The alternating grain direction creates the distinctive herringbone pattern.
-
5
Use Bamboo Mosaic in your build
Bamboo Mosaic is ideal for flooring, wall cladding, and Asian-inspired or Japanese-style interiors. You can also craft Bamboo Mosaic Slabs (3 mosaic → 6 slabs) and Bamboo Mosaic Stairs (6 mosaic → 4 stairs) for more design flexibility. Note: Bamboo Mosaic is flammable — keep it away from fire and lava.
Bamboo Mosaic was added in Java Edition 1.20 and Bedrock Edition 1.20.0 (Trails & Tales update).
